Schwinn Airdyne AD7, No Speed or RPM Reading Displayed

If you have no speed or RPM readings on the console of your Schwinn Airdyne AD7, there could be a few reasons for this.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

  1. Check the connection between the console and the bike. Make sure the cables are plugged in and there are no loose connections. Make sure no damage to the cables.
  2. Make sure the speed sensor is in alignment with the fan magnets. If no, it may not be able to detect the speed. Ensure that the RPM sensor and the speed sensor magnets on the fan assembly do not touch. The sensor should be within a credit card thickness from the fan magnets and not touching the fan.
  3. Check the condition of the speed sensor. If it is dirty or damaged, it may not be able to detect the speed. Clean the sensor with a soft cloth or replace it if necessary. Check for the presence of the magnets in the fan cage.
  4. Check the condition of the fan magnets. If the magnets are missing, dirty or damaged, they may not be able to provide accurate speed readings. Clean the magnets with a soft cloth or replace them if necessary.
  5. Check the batteries in the console. If they are low or dead, the console may not be able to display the speed or RPM readings. Replace the batteries with fresh ones.
  6. Try resetting the console. Turn off the Airdyne, unplug it from the wall outlet, wait a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a problem with the console itself or the internal wiring. In that case, contact Sportsmith support or a professional bike mechanic for further help.
