Sometimes in the field, you may find the pillow block bearings on a pulley assembly for an elliptical are no longer aligned with the housing. This is the nature of the bearing design.
You can overcome this during the installation of the pulley assembly. If your bearings are like the example images above, we can help with how to overcome this in the field.
Dealing with Bearings that have Shifted in the Pillow Block Housing
- Use the bolts to hold the first pillow block on the frame. This allows you the leverage to adjust the bearing in the first housing and get it somewhat aligned.
- Then swap the bolts to the opposite side and get that side close.
- Once they are both "close", you can tighten the bolts in the pillow block they are still in and use two long tools like screwdrivers to align the holes in the opposite pillow blocks to get a precise position.
- Remove the screwdrivers and install the belt and the bolts, one at a time if necessary, to keep alignment.
