Procedure:

  1. Remove the screws and nuts from the pillow blocks.
  2. The flywheel is now free from the bike. You can lift and pull the flywheel from its position.
CAUTION: The flywheel is heavy. The approximate weight is 52 lbs. Damage to the bike and/or the flywheel can occur if dropped. Damage to floors is possible. Take care and protect your flooring. We suggest rubber mats and towels. Place your bike over a rubber mat. Slip a towel between the frame and the flywheel. Wad the towel to create a cushion to protect the frame and flooring from the flywheel if it drops during removal.
  3. Place the flywheel on a flat surface. Take care to protect the surface and the flywheel. Place the 3" wood block to keep the flywheel level and the weight off the flywheel shaft during the repair.
  4. Place the notches of the puller tool over the mounting holes of the pillow blocks.
  5. Place the small hex wrenches into the holes of the puller tool, through the holes of the pillow block. This will hold the puller tool to the pillow block.
  6. Thread the large bolt included with the tool into the puller.
  7. As you tighten the bolt against the flywheel shaft the pillow block will pull free.
  8. If you need to replace the pillow block on the side with the flywheel pulley, the steps are the same. You will have to remove the flywheel pulley before removing the pillow block. Click here to read about removing the flywheel pulley on a Lemond Revmaster Classic.
