Schwinn Airdyne, Pedal Shaft is Hitting the Connecting Arm to the Handlebar

Have you recently made a repair to your Schwinn Airdyne exercise bike and now your pedal shaft is hitting the connecting arm to the handlebar?

This can be due to the orientation of the crank arm. The crank arms have a curve that provides clearance between the pedal shaft and the connecting arm to the handlebar.
If the pedal crank is not oriented correctly, the excess pedal shaft that sticks out of the pedal crank will make contact with the connecting arm.

The curve of the pedal crank should face toward the inside. The smooth, flat side of the crank arm should be facing out. See the example above.
