Bowflex Home Gyms, How to Replace a Rod Cable

The rod cable on the Bowflex home gyms is a common wear item. This means, that due to the amount of action the cable sees, it wears out. It may wear out sooner than other parts on the machine.

We want to share with you the steps of how to replace a rod cable on your Bowflex home gym.
Some models have a rod cable with removable ball stops. If your rod cable has a removable ball stop, click here to read how to remove and replace the cable ball stop on a Bowflex. The steps we share to replace the rod cable are the same across all Bowflex home gyms that have power rods. These steps can be followed if your rod cables do not have removable ball stops.

It requires one tool and less than 5 minutes of your time.

Tool Required:

  • 1/2" wrench

Replacing a Rod Cable:

  1. Remove the bolt through the eye of  the cable on the hook end. You will need the 1/2" wrench to remove the bolt.
  2. Feed the eye end of the cable through the rod cable pulley.
  3. Reinstall the bolt removed. Make sure the head of the bolt is on the opposite side of the head of the bolt through the hook.
  4. Connect the hook to the rods.

This completes the steps of replacing a rod cable on your Bowflex home gym.
