Life Fitness 95R Elevation Series Recumbent Bike Seat Cable Replacement

 

 

This article will help you replace the seat cable and handle for the seat position adjustment on Life Fitness Elevation Series Recumbent bikes.

Tools Required:

  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • 3/16" Hex key
  • 6 mm Hex key
  • Small flathead screwdriver
  • 13mm socket and ratchet handle
  • Snap ring pliers or needle nose pliers

  Warning:

The electric ribbon cable coming out of the base of the cycle that connects to the seat mechanism must be disconnected to prevent damage.

Procedure:

  • Remove the 11 screws holding the shrouds around the extruded rail with the Phillips screwdriver.
    • Three screws on the right shroud.
    • Six screws on the left shroud.
    • Two screws on the rear shroud.

  • Unscrew the metal plate before disconnecting the electrical harness that comes out of the frame and into the seat. Be very careful when disconnecting.

  Caution:

Be very careful not to damage the locking part of the connector on the harness.

  • Remove the front and rear panels from the carriage of the recumbent seat. They both have 3 Phillips screws.

  • Unscrew the black metal plate that supports the wire harness to get access to one of the screws on the rear panel.
  • With a 6mm Hex key, remove the 4 bolts that hold the frame and glide channel together.  Note: It may be necessary to remove the battery to gain access to the bolts at the rear.

  • Remove the cup holder from the seat, then remove the seat from the machine and set it aside.
  • Pull the adjustment lever on the front of the seat and glide the extrusion off of the seat carriage.
  • With the 6mm Hex key loosen the six socket head cap screws that secure the guide mechanism to the outer extrusion, but do not remove them. You DO NOT want the plates on the inside to fall out.

  • Remove the roller guide mechanism from the outer extrusion by pulling it toward the side that the brake cable goes through.
  • Remove the two snap rings (e-clip) from the clevis pin with snap ring pliers or needle nose pliers, then remove the clevis pin that secures the cable in place.

  • Remove the screws that mount the cable handle to the guide mechanism.

  • Remove the handle and cable.
  • Installation is the reverse of this procedure.
