Bowflex Max Trainer, How to Install or Remove the Pedal Arms

You may need to remove the pedal arms from your Bowflex Max Trainer. The pedal arms are part of the leg assembly for the Max Trainer. Both the foot pedal and the roller wheels attach to the pedal arm. Here you can see how the arms attach and how to remove them.

Tools Required:

  • 6mm Hex wrench

Installing a Pedal Arm:

  • Place the 17.2x22 wave washer onto the crank arm shaft.
  • Place the pedal arm onto the crank arm shaft.
    • You will want to hold the lower portion of the pedal arm at an upward angle as you install the pedal arm onto the shaft.
    • Allowing the roller wheel on the pedal arm to be fully seated onto the rail assembly when lowered into position.
  • Install the M8 lock washer onto your pedal arm bolt.
  • Install the M8x24 flat washer onto your pedal arm bolt.
  • Thread the pedal arm bolt into the crank arm shaft and tighten with the 6mm hex wrench.
  • Install the bolt cap.
  • Sit the pedal arm down onto the rail assembly.

Removing a Pedal Arm:

  • Remove the bolt cap to expose the bolt securing the pedal arm to the crank arm shaft.
  • Remove the bolt securing the pedal arm to the crank arm shaft. You will need the 6mm hex wrench.
  • Collect the lock washer and flat washer that fit with the bolt that secures the pedal arm. Keep these with the pedal arm bolt.
  • Lift the pedal arm wheel from the rail assembly and pull outward removing the pedal arm from the crank arm shaft.
  • Note: A wave washer fits between the crank arm shaft and the pedal arm. Make sure it remains on the crank arm shaft and doesn't get lost or discarded.

This completes how to install or remove the pedal arms on a Bowflex Max Trainer.
