Tools Required:

  • 16mm Wrench or Adjustable Wrench
  • 9/16” or 14mm Socket and Wrench
  • #2 Phillips Screwdriver
  • 5mm Hex Wrench
  • 6mm Hex Wrench
  • Torque Wrench

Procedure:

Note: It is important to know the proper orientation of the crank arms for reassembly. The right and left crank arms should be opposite each other and inline. See the example above.

  1. Install the crank arm ensuring proper orientation.
  2. Reinstall the crank arm nut and torque the nut to 9-32.5 foot lbs (or 350- 390 inch lbs). You will need a 9/16" or 14mm socket.
  3. Reinstall the crank cover and tighten the two mounting screws to secure it in place. Take care and do not over-tighten these screws.
  4. Lift the connector arm and join it together with the pivot arm. Reinstall the hardware securing this connection.
  5. Reinstall the handlebar and secure it with the hardware removed from the handlebar. Tighten the hardware with the 5mm hex wrench.
  6. Place the wave washer onto the crank arm shaft.
  7. Holding the leg assembly by the pedal arm and foot pedal, slide the leg assembly straight onto the crank arm shaft.
  8. Reinstall the hardware for the leg assembly and tighten it with the 6mm hex wrench.
  9. Install the cap over the leg assembly hardware.
  10. Check the machine for proper function.

This completes installing the crank assembly for the Bowflex Max Trainer.
