Do you have a Schwinn IC2 or IC3 indoor cycle and want to know why it makes a squealing noise? Let Sportsmith help you troubleshoot the squealing noise on your Schwinn IC3 or IC2 bike.
Tools Needed:
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Silicone Lubricant
- Pedal Wrench
- 8mm Wrench
Troubleshooting Squealing Noise:
- Brake pads are the biggest culprit when it comes to squealing noises on an indoor cycle. After time and wear, the brake pad becomes hardened or glazed over. Click here to read about restoring the felt brake pad.
- If the pad is too far gone and cannot be restored, it needs to be replaced. Click here to read about replacing a brake pad.
- If noise is still present with a known good brake pad and minimum resistance, listen closely to find where the noise originates. If you hear noise from the crank area, try removing the pedals. Remove one pedal at a time. Rotate the cranks to see if the noise goes away after the pedal is removed. If the noise goes away after a certain pedal is removed, replace that pedal or the set, whichever is available.
