Schwinn Airdyne, AD2, How to Remove the Shrouds and Vent Cover

Do you own a Schwinn Airdyne, AD2, exercise bike and need to make a repair that requires the plastic covers be removed? We can help you with how to remove the shrouds and the vent cover from your bike.

Tools you will need for this job are a pedal wrench and a #2 Phillips screwdriver.

• Start by removing the pedals from the bike. Click here for help on how to remove a pedal.
• Now with the Phillips screwdriver, you will remove the screws from the left and right shrouds or covers on the bike. Note: Pushing the handlebar forward, as you remove each side shroud, helps to make removal of that side easier.
  • You should find (10) screws on the left side of the bike and you should find (7) screws on the right side of the bike. The right and left are from the exercise position on the bike.
    

      Tech Tip

    You will notice there are different types and sizes of screws. Take a note of the type/size of screw as you remove it from each location. You will want to be sure to put the same screw back in the same spot when you put the shrouds or covers back onto the bike. Set the hardware and the shrouds to the side.

• Remove the console. Disconnect the data cable by unplugging it from the back of the console.
  

    Caution

  Do Not Crimp the Console Data Cable.

   

  
  Push the locking tab at the back of the console to release it from the console bracket. See the examples below. The locking tab is (A) and the data cable is the 1-pin plug. The console bracket is (B). Set the console to the side.
    
• Remove the (2) Phillips screws from the top of the vent cover and remove the vent cover. See the example below.
  Note: The screws at the bottom of the vent cover were already removed with the right and left shrouds.
  
• Replacing or Installing the vent cover and shrouds is the reverse of the steps you have taken.
