Schwinn Airdne, AD6, Noises from the Fan Assembly

Noise from your bike during a workout can be a major distraction. If you think your noise is coming from the fan on your AD6 Airdyne by Schwinn, keep reading to find out what you can do to fix it.

Tools Needed:

  • 14mm Socket and Wrench
  • 10mm Open End Wrench
  • 15mm Open End Wrench
  • 17mm Open End Wrench
  • Phillips Screwdriver
  • 4mm Allen Wrench
  • 6mm Allen Wrench
  • Pliers

Troubleshooting Noise from the Fan of a Schwinn AD6:

  1. You will remove the shrouds and belts. Click here to learn how to replace the fan of your Schwinn Airdyne 6 for details about removing the shrouds and belts. During this troubleshooting, you will re-seat the belts onto their pulleys.
  2. You have removed the fan from the bike. Check the alignment of the fan inside the fan cover. It should be even, and no part of the fan should touch the cover.
  3. Give the fan assembly a good look over. Check for any type of debris inside the fan cage. Remove any debris that is inside the fan cage. You should be able to remove the debris from the openings at the bottom of the cage or near the fan pulley. Remove the screws and open the fan cage if needed. You will need the Phillips screwdriver to do this.
  4. If damage was discovered to the fan assembly, replace it.
  5. Reinstall the fan reversing the steps taken for removal. Take care to ensure that all hardware is tight and parts are in the right positions and not rubbing together. Test the operation of the bike. Does the noise still exist?
