StarTrac 5400 and 5300 Bikes No Comm (No Communication) Error

Probable Cause

  1. Bad communication cable or poor connection
  2. Bad lower control board

Corrective Action

  1. Gain access to the lower control board so that LEDs are visible for testing. Locate LED 02. Begin pedaling and verify that the LED 02 flashes steadily. The steady flashes of the LED 02 indicate communication between the lower board and display. If LED is not flashing steadily, remove the PROM slot cover from the back of the display and verify the communication cable is connected to the connector J4. If the cable is connected but LED 02 was not flashing steadily, replace the communication cable.
