Probable Cause
- Loose wire connections.
- No RPM.
- Malfunctioning alternator.
- Malfunctioning alternator control board.
- Malfunctioning display console.
- Worn or damaged wire harnesses.
Corrective Action
- Disconnect then reconnect and secure cable connections.
- Enter Diagnostics and check for RPM signal.
- Press and hold the UP Arrow key while pressing the CLEAR key twice.
- Press and hold COOL DOWN, and then press ENTER for entry into the TEST/SERVICE Menu.
- Press ENTER to scroll through to the MISCELLANEOUS 1 TESTS.
- Look for present RPM in the RPM window.
- Test alternator output or test with substitute alternator. The 12 volt, 35 amp Alternator is designed to provide electrical power to the product, supply load resistance while providing electrical power, and provide the RPM signal from the AC TAP to the Alternator Control Board. Test Alternator output or test with substitute Alternator.
- Alternator Voltage Test:
- Attach DC voltmeter to Alternator.
- Voltmeter positive (+) probe to Alternator red lead.
- Voltmeter negative (-) lead to Alternator black lead.
- Maintain pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
- Press START key.
- Alternator Voltage Specification: 9 - 11 VDC when pedal speed greater than 45 RPM
- Replace malfunctioning Alternator.
- Attach DC voltmeter to Alternator.
- Alternator Voltage Test:
- Test with substitute alternator control board.
- Replace malfunctioning board.
- Test with substitute display console.
- Replace malfunctioning display console.
- Inspect wire harnesses.
- Replace any worn or damaged harness.
