Probable Cause
- Pedaling too slowly.
- Program level doesn’t challenge user ability.
- Loose wire connections.
- Worn or damaged harnesses.
- Malfunctioning Display Console.
- Malfunctioning Alternator Control Board.
- Malfunctioning Alternator.
- Alternator Belt excessively loose.
- Drive Belt excessively loose.
Corrective Action
- Pedal faster than 30 RPM.
- Select higher level.
- Disconnect then reset connections.
- Inspect wire harnesses. Replace a worn or damaged harness.
- Test with substitute Display Console. Replace malfunctioning Display Console.
- Test with substitute Alternator Control Board. Replace defective board.
- Test Alternator output or, test with substitute Alternator.
- Alternator Voltage Test:
- Attach DC voltmeter to Alternator.
- Voltmeter positive (+) probe to Alternator red lead.
- Voltmeter negative (-) lead to Alternator black lead.
- Maintain pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
- Press START key.
- Alternator Voltage Specification: 9 - 11 VDC when pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
- Replace malfunctioning Alternator.
- Attach DC voltmeter to Alternator.
- Alternator Voltage Test:
- Inspect belt deflection. Alternator Belt Deflection: 1/4 inch (6mm).
- Adjust belt as necessary.
- Inspect Belt.
- Replace Belt as necessary.
