Pedaling Seems Too Easy on LifeFitness 95Ci, 95Ce and 95CW Bikes

Probable Cause

  1. Pedaling too slowly.
  2. Program level doesn’t challenge user ability.
  3. Loose wire connections.
  4. Worn or damaged harnesses.
  5. Malfunctioning Display Console.
  6. Malfunctioning Alternator Control Board.
  7. Malfunctioning Alternator.
  8. Alternator Belt excessively loose.
  9. Drive Belt excessively loose.

Corrective Action

  1. Pedal faster than 30 RPM.
  2. Select higher level.
  3. Disconnect then reset connections.
  4. Inspect wire harnesses. Replace a worn or damaged harness.
  5. Test with substitute Display Console. Replace malfunctioning Display Console.
  6. Test with substitute Alternator Control Board. Replace defective board.
  7. Test Alternator output or, test with substitute Alternator.
    1. Alternator Voltage Test:
      1. Attach DC voltmeter to Alternator.
        1. Voltmeter positive (+) probe to Alternator red lead.
        2. Voltmeter negative (-) lead to Alternator black lead.
      2. Maintain pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
      3. Press START key.
        1. Alternator Voltage Specification: 9 - 11 VDC when pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
      4. Replace malfunctioning Alternator.
  8. Inspect belt deflection. Alternator Belt Deflection: 1/4 inch (6mm).
    1. Adjust belt as necessary.
  9. Inspect Belt.
    1. Replace Belt as necessary.
