How to Adjust Belt Tracking on LifeFitness 9700, 9100 and 9500 Next Gen Treadmills

Tools Required

  • Hex key wrench set

Procedure

NOTE: It's VERY IMPORTANT that the unit is leveled correctly before making any changes to the tracking. A teetering unit can cause your walking belt to come out of alignment.

  1. Once you've checked that the unit is level, you can now check for proper tracking of the belt. You may plug the unit into a proper power outlet, and turn the unit ON.
  2. Using the Speed Automatic test from the Diagnostics: System Test menu, obtain 4mph (6.4kph) motor speed.
  3. While the belt is running, check the tracking. Does the belt move to the right? IF so, adjust by turning the right tensioning bolt ¼ turn counterclockwise. Allow for a few belt rotations to ensure the belt has found its position. This should bring it back to the center.
  4. While the belt is running, check the tracking. Does the belt move to the left? IF so, adjust by turning the left tensioning bolt ¼ turn clockwise. Allow for a few belt rotations to ensure the belt has found its position. This should bring it back to the center.
  5. Repeat this procedure until the walking belt is centered. Let the unit run a few minutes after tracking to ensure tracking stays set.

IMPORTANT: While adjusting, DO NOT surpass more than 1 full turn on the tensioning screws in each direction.
