How to Replace a Step Chain Retainer on Stairmaster 4000PT

Learn how to replace a step chain retainer on your Stairmaster 4000PT stepper.

Tools:

  • Phillips or Flathead screwdriver
  • Socket set
  • Wrench set

Procedure:

  1. Remove side covers.
  2. Loosen and remove the two-step chain retainer bolts.
    1. These bolts are also the top two mounting bolts for the drive hub assembly.
  3. Reverse the removal procedures to reinstall.
    1. Make sure there is adequate clearance between the step chain and the retainer.
