Excessive Resistance During a Program on LifeFitness LifeCycle 90C and 90CW Bikes

Probable Cause

  1. Loose wire connections.
  2. Worn or damaged wire harnesses.
  3. Malfunctioning Display Console.
  4. Malfunctioning Alternator Control Board (ACB).
  5. Malfunctioning Alternator.

Corrective Action

  1. Disconnect and reset connections.
  2. Inspect wire harnesses. Replace any worn or damaged harness.
  3. Test with substitute Display Console. Replace Display Console.
  4. Test with substitute ACB. Replace malfunctioning ACB.
  5. Test Alternator output or, test with substitute Alternator.
    1. Alternator Voltage Test:
      1. Attach DC voltmeter to Alternator.
        1. Voltmeter positive (+) probe to Alternator red lead.
        2. Voltmeter negative (-) lead to Alternator black lead.
      2. Maintain pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
      3. Press START key.
        1. Alternator Voltage Specification: 9 - 11 VDC when pedal speed greater than 45 RPM.
      4. Replace malfunctioning Alternator.
