How to Adjust Belt Tension on LifeFitness 9100, 9500 Next Gen and 9700 Treadmills

Tools:

  • Hex key wrench set
  • Phillips screwdriver

Procedure:

  1. Without running on the unit, start and let it run about 5 minutes at 5mph.
  2. Reduce the speed to 2mph. While the unit running at 2mph, start walking on the belt.
  3. Grasp handrails firmly and try stopping/stalling the walking belt with your feet.
    1. If the striding belt slips, continue to the next step.
  4. Bring the treadmill to a stop; Locate the two belt tension bolts on each side of the rear roller mounting brackets.
    1. Turn the bolts ¼ turn clockwise, alternating sides. (IMPORTANT: While adjusting, DO NOT surpass more than 1 full turn on the tensioning screws in each direction.)
      1. Redo steps 3 and 4 until the belt will not slip when trying to stop/stall the belt with your foot. (IMPORTANT: While adjusting, DO NOT surpass more than 1 full turn on the tensioning screws in each direction.)
