Schwinn AD6 Pivot Arm Assembly Replacement Procedure

This procedure covers the steps required to replace the Pivot Arm Assembly on a Schwinn Airdnye 6.

Tools Required

  • #2 Phillips Screwdriver
  • 4 MM Hex Wrench
  • 6 MM Hex Wrench
  • 14 MM Socket Wrench

Procedure

Note: This procedure is the same for both sides.

  1. Remove the 3 screws from the Crank Arm using a 14 MM socket wrench and a 4 MM hex wrench Note: Be aware that the Crank Arm and Pedal will fall if not supported during the hardware removal.
  2. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the indicated screws from the Shrouds Note: To assist with re-assembly, be aware that the screws closest to the rear four screws are self-tapping screws. The front two are not. Do not put them in the wrong place.
  3. Remove the Shroud and Crank Cover.
  4. Using a 6 MM hex wrench, remove the two screws from the foot Peg and remove it.
  5. Remove the Handlebar from the Pivot Arm Assembly.
  6. Using a 14 MM socket wrench, remove the screw from the Connector Arm.
  7. Disconnect the Connector Arm from the Pivot Arm Assembly
  8. Slide the Pivot Arm Assembly off the machine. Note: When removing the Pivot Arm Assembly, be aware of the washer locations to assist with re-assembly.
  9. Installation is the reverse procedure. Note: Be sure when attaching the Crank Arm that all three pieces (Crank Arm, Crank Cover, and Connector Arm) are properly aligned before installing ANY hardware. The Crank Cover may have rotated during the Crank Arm removal.
  10. Final Inspection. Inspect your machine to ensure that all hardware is tight and components are properly assembled.
