Schwinn AC and IC Bikes, Serial Numbers Explained and Locations on the Bike

This video is an introduction to the serial numbers for the Schwinn AC & IC bikes.  We explain the serial number as well as where they are located on the bikes.

  • Locating the serial number on the Schwinn IC bikes:
    • Tilt bike forward so that it can rest on the handlebar
    • The serial number is located on the underside of the main-frame
  • Locating the serial number on the Schwinn AC bikes:
    • The serial number is located on the main frame behind the chain guard
  • Serial number Explanation for AC models:
    • AC models include -
    • xxxxxx - First six digits of the serial number are the SKU
    • VVV - The next three are the Vendor Code
    • WKYY - The next four are the Week and Year
    • 9999 - The last four are the machine that made the production run

      Note: If your serial# doesn't match this explanation, check for a model SKU that will read something like 9-7340-xxxxxx

  • Serial number Explanation for IC models:
    • IC models include -
    • AAA – First three digits of the serial number are the day of the year manufactured
    • B – The fourth digit is the last digit of the year manufactured (e.g. = 6 – 2006)
    • CCCCCC – Last six digits are a unique code for each individual unit

      Note: If your serial# doesn't match this explanation, check for a model SKU that will read something like 9-7420-xxxxxx
